Idolomantis Diabolicala

This Mantis lived in my studio while I drew the Idolomantis Diabolica and actually crawled on the drawing and my hand while I was working. When the drawing was finished I set him free and thanked him for the inspiration.

This story came to me during a visitation by a prophet.

This prophet came to my studio door by way of the many boulders and rocks, through the wise, majestic Oak trees. It came with a warm, Santa Ana wind.

The prophet came in the form of a Mantis knocking on my door. I let it in and the story took its form as a drawing.

This Mantis stayed about a week as I studied it’s elegant ways. It seduced me as it does it prey. Posing with legs raised high, exposing its thorax and abdomen, flashing wings that shifted left and right as if trying to hypnotize me, eyes that see 180 degrees. It was magnificent. The perfect insect of seduction.

In my drawing it took the form of Idolomantis Diabolical, the Devil Mantis.
